[no_toc][/no_toc]Today we bring you a New Year present: the fourth version of XBian 1.0!
This version has better support for remotes, XBMC v12 Frodo – RC1 (as RC2 is bugged upstream), and of course the latest kernel. Needless to say we’ve killed some bugs along the way driving our development-sleight. First reports are this Alpha is lightning fast! We will celebrate this release worldwide with enormous amounts of fireworks :D
All questions, bugs or fixes can again be posted in our dedicated XBian 1.0 Alpha 4 topic, bugfixes can be found here or come celebrate with us in our IRC-channel.
Happy New Year!

And Happy New Year to all and all the best in 2013
all the download links are just this (http://xbian.org/download/#), can’t figure out how to download it. please help.
Nvm, Tried a different browser works perfect! =D Thanks again! Happy New Years!
Awesome job!
Though, one point of interest:
What’s the point of a usb sound card if xbmc build for the rpi doesn’t support this (yet)?
I’m really very pleased and surprised as how well this build plays high def movies with DTS 5.1 sound from a NAS box over a wired connection via SMB – without stutter!
Awesome! A great year of work from all involved. It’s been great watching Xbian grow and mature. Thanks everyone
Thanks!
My Pi wont even boot after going from 3 to 4.
Hi Samantha,
Could you post your experience (plus additional info) in http://forum.xbian.org/thread-182.html . So far we don’t have a report about this so you can help us investigate the problem.
I wanted to wait until I could test things myself (its been too hot here to power my TV/Pi up, 41c today -_- ) but that link doesn’t work now.
Class 10 sandisk Ultra 30MB – worked on Alpha 3 file. Won’t boot (red light) after I ran that update.
Copied a fresh Alpha 4 to the card. Still nothing. Installed a fresh 3.. What? Now that won’t work either!? That memory card works on my Mac & in my DSLR now fine. (I’m gonna try putting Rasbpian on it later to see if it is the card or Xbian problem)
Installed a4 on my old class 4 card and that worked fine until the UI froze(I assumed it was a skin problem), SSH in and did a sudo reboot, it boots up with some error about blocks & fcks(?). I took a photo of the whole screen but that’s on my iPhone & I’m not at my computer to upload it ATM.
I will copy this with more detailed on to the forum later, I’m just not sure we’re it goes.
I’ve fixed the link: http://forum.xbian.org/thread-182.html
If anyone is having issues with their sources dissappearing on reboot, it is due to the fact that /home/xbian/.xbmc/userdata/sources.xml is root owned and doesn’t seem to be storing the settings added via the XBMC GUI.
A simple:
chown xbian:xbian sources.xml will fix it.
If you have mounted the card in another machine do:
chown 1001:1001 sources.xml.
Is there any reason this was set with root ownership? I can’t remember it being that way in the past but I may be mistaken…
please, can you use forum instead of comments ?
this place is for different purpose.
Thanks
PS:this information is well discussed on our forum anyway
Sorry about that – I didn’t realize.
I get: an error prevented upgrade, please try again later
Where can i check for this error? any log?
